On the afternoon of January 16, 2026, Nanjing Zijin Hospital successfully held the “2025 Mid-term Review of In-House Research Projects and New Technologies/Projects, and the 2026 In-House Research Project and New Technology/Project Kick-off Presentation” in the Academic Lecture Hall on the fifth floor of the Jiangning Campus. Hospital leaders, project leaders and team members, along with representatives from all departments, gathered to present the hospital’s research achievements over the past year and to outline future directions for innovation.

Vice President Wang Yifang first reported on the overall achievements of new technologies and projects, as well as in-house research topics, for the 2025 fiscal year, along with the status of applications for the 2026 fiscal year.

Dean Ge Jiangping delivered a speech, fully commending the hospital’s progress in scientific research and technological innovation over the past year. He emphasized that sustained innovation is the core driving force behind the hospital’s high-quality development and encouraged all medical staff to actively engage in research and innovative applications of technology.

At this conference, Director Zhao PengLai from the Department of Neurosurgery at Nanjing Gulou Hospital was specially invited to provide precise commentary on each project. He offered valuable recommendations regarding the scientific rigor of the study design, the feasibility of the technical approach, and the value of the innovative aspects, thereby charting a clear course for the smooth initiation and implementation of all projects.

In 2025, a total of eight new technologies and projects were submitted, along with 13 hospital‑level research topics. At the reporting session, the principal investigators of more than ten projects—including “Analysis of the Impact of Hemoglobin Levels on the Degree of Consciousness Disorders in Patients with Brain Injury” and “Italian Fascial Manipulation (FM)” —presented detailed updates on project progress, interim findings, and plans for the next phase, highlighting the proactive efforts and solid work undertaken by various departments in areas such as critical care rehabilitation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, rehabilitation technologies, and nursing innovation.

The hospital has simultaneously launched its 2026 research proposal submission process, receiving a total of five applications for new technologies and projects, as well as twelve internal research proposals. The overall quality of submissions has improved markedly, reflecting the clinical departments’ strong commitment to scientific innovation. The newly submitted projects focus on technological advances in areas such as critical care nursing, traditional Chinese medicine–based rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary assessment, and catheterization techniques, aiming to enhance patient experience and rehabilitation outcomes by introducing and developing more precise, minimally invasive, and comfortable diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Meanwhile, the newly approved research initiatives center on key clinical challenges in neurorehabilitation—particularly disorders of consciousness, neurocritical care, spinal cord injury, stroke, and nutritional management—seeking to generate higher‑level evidence for clinical practice through large‑scale studies, predictive model development, and the integrated application of multiple therapeutic modalities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Executive Vice President Gao Zhiqiang delivered a closing address. He expressed the hope that, taking this briefing as a starting point, the entire hospital would further strengthen research collaboration, prioritize the translation of scientific findings into clinical applications, ensure that technological innovation effectively benefits patients, and continuously enhance Nanjing Zijin Hospital’s academic standing and clinical expertise.
