In the southern lands of May, the city of Pengcheng is cloaked in layers of verdant greenery.

　　From May 9 to 10, 2026, the nationally recognized continuing medical education–approved program “Workshop on Scale-Based Assessment of Disorders of Consciousness in Brain Injury” (Project No.: 2026-16-01-403 National), co-hosted by the China Association of Private Medical Institutions and Nanjing Zijin Hospital, was successfully held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Nearly one hundred clinical leaders and research professionals from intensive care rehabilitation departments, neurology and neurosurgery units, ICUs, hyperbaric oxygen therapy centers, and rehabilitation medicine departments across the country gathered to engage in an academic symposium that seamlessly integrated theory with practice, focusing on the core issue of precise assessment of disorders of consciousness.

　　This two-day course combined a historical exploration of assessment scales with cutting-edge developments and multimodal integration, offering both a high-level disciplinary overview and hands-on scale‑development workshops. It not only planted the seeds of precise measurement in each participant’s mind but also delivered a rich and insightful academic exchange.

　　Nanjing Zijin Hospital will continue to join forces with colleagues nationwide, deepening its expertise in brain injury rehabilitation and disorders of consciousness. By leveraging precise assessments, we aim to build a bridge between life and awakening, enabling more patients to achieve clearer prognoses and a brighter future through evidence-based diagnosis and treatment.
