To comprehensively enhance the communication skills and health education capabilities of our nursing staff, the Nursing Department of our hospital officially launched the “Communicating with Heart, Protecting with Love” Health Education Video Competition on November 17, 2025. This initiative invites all nurses to participate by filming and producing five-minute short videos that depict real-life scenarios from their daily work, such as nurse–patient communication and health education.

The competition was conceived with a purpose far beyond a mere evaluation. It calls upon every nurse to go beyond the role of caregiver and become a skilled health educator who excels in communication. From admission briefings and answers to specialized questions to discharge instructions, nurses are expected to use standard Mandarin and adopt a warm, natural demeanor, translating complex medical knowledge into content that patients and their families can easily understand and retain. The scoring criteria not only assess the professionalism and scientific rigor of the material but also place great emphasis on the warmth of communication, the diversity of instructional methods, and the overall effectiveness of the delivery. All videos strictly safeguard patient privacy, reflecting our hospital’s nursing team’s unwavering commitment to respecting patient dignity. Through this competition, we aim to standardize health education practices, inspire creativity among nursing staff, and lay the groundwork for fostering a compassionate “magnetic nursing culture” and building a robust “rehabilitation nursing brand.”

While honing their clinical skills, our hospital’s nursing team has never ceased its pursuit of continuous learning. Since November 13, 2025, the Nursing Department has been systematically conducting literature‑review sessions across both hospital campuses, as scheduled. This initiative is open to head nurses, specialty nurses, and core nursing staff, with all nurses encouraged to participate. Employing a blended online–offline format, the program regularly features book‑report presentations on the latest advances in rehabilitation nursing.

The learning content focuses on the latest research findings, professional guidelines, and expert consensus published in leading domestic and international journals over the past three years. Presenters are expected to distill the key insights from the literature within 15 minutes, followed by facilitated commentary and discussion that link these findings to clinical practice, encouraging reflection on how they might inform current workflows and inspire future research directions. From “Enteral Nutrition Management in Critically Ill Patients” to “Airway Clearance Techniques Combined with Supraglottic Suction,” these cutting-edge topics represent a pivotal step in elevating our hospital’s nursing care—from an experience‑based approach toward an evidence‑based one.

The Nursing Department of Nanjing Zijin Hospital will continue to build a diversified platform for the professional development of its nursing staff.
