Ding—The 2025 mid-year exam paper is ready for you to review!

Summing up the past and charting the future, Nanjing Zijin Hospital held its 2025 Mid-Year Work Summary Conference on July 19.

As the seasons turn, the verdant splendor of Wutong Avenue is at its peak, and we have reached the halfway point of 2025. What results have our colleagues across the institute delivered over the past six months? And how will we chart our course for the second half of the year?

Summing up the past and charting the future, Nanjing Zijin Hospital held its 2025 Mid-Year Work Summary Conference on July 19. Hospital leaders, heads of all departments, key personnel from each clinical division, and employee representatives gathered to discuss the hospital’s development. The conference was chaired by Gao Zhiqiang, Executive Vice President of Nanjing Zijin Hospital.

The conference opened with the solemn strains of the hospital anthem, as all attendees stood in silent reverence and sang “Love Never Sleeps.” Following this, President Ge Jiangping of Nanjing Zijin Hospital delivered a work summary report for the first half of 2025. In his presentation, which spanned more than an hour, President Ge used comprehensive data to provide a panoramic overview of the hospital’s progress and achievements during the first six months across key areas, including clinical care, research and education, talent development, information technology advancement, as well as safety management and Party building and cultural initiatives.

First-Half Performance and Highlights

Over the past six months, the entire hospital has remained firmly aligned with its annual work plan, steadily advancing all tasks to ensure tangible results. On the clinical front, medical, nursing, and technical teams have rigorously implemented core protocols—such as departmental meetings and discussions on complex cases—thereby reinforcing patient safety and enhancing diagnostic and treatment efficiency. Subspecialty development has focused on coordinated progress across four key dimensions—human resources, equipment, policies, and institutional mechanisms—continuously refining a path of precision‑driven growth. In terms of talent development, the hospital has adopted a multifaceted approach, emphasizing targeted recruitment, systematic training, and competitive opportunities to cultivate expertise, thereby unlocking human capital in critical areas such as critical care, respiratory medicine, and nursing.

Notably, in the first half of the year, the hospital successfully hosted the inaugural meeting of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Specialized Committee of the China Association of Private Medical Institutions, along with its first annual academic conference, and was honored to assume the role of chair‑unit. This recognition not only underscores the hospital’s robust expertise in the field of hyperbaric oxygen therapy but also opens up broader platforms and opportunities for the discipline’s continued advancement. Meanwhile, the multi‑center study on the reliability and validity of the Nanjing Scale for Recovery of Consciousness, led by our hospital, has been steadily deepened and advanced. Through meticulously organized collaborative efforts—including online training sessions and on‑site visits—the study is now being systematically rolled out across 14 sub‑centers nationwide, progressing smoothly. This research is expected to provide a more scientifically rigorous and precise “Chinese evidence‑based foundation” for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of consciousness.

Building on past achievements while looking ahead, Dean Ge, while acknowledging the hospital’s accomplishments, focused squarely on current challenges and future directions. From deepening the development of subspecialties to breaking through bottlenecks in research output, from establishing a personalized, high‑safety nursing management system to advancing the comprehensive application of information technology—Dean Ge precisely identified key priorities for the second half of the year. These increasingly detailed and expanding challenges vividly reflect the hospital’s management system as it moves toward maturity and excellence. With 2025 designated as the hospital’s “Year of Refined Management,” Dean Ge’s thorough and in‑depth review not only provided a systematic recap of the first half but also reaffirmed, re‑deployed, and re‑mobilized the core themes for the entire year.

Statement by the Head of the Department

The head of the department delivered a statement outlining the work plan for the second half of the year.

Liu Yafeng, Director of the Jiangning Campus, emphasized that, in line with the core theme of the “Year of Refined Management,” it is essential to further leverage information technology to enhance the scientific rigor of management and implement refined departmental management across multiple dimensions, thereby effectively improving both patient safety and patient satisfaction. He particularly underscored the need to consistently prioritize medical quality—especially the quality of medical records—as a top priority.

Wang Changbao, Regional Director of the Qinhuai Campus, outlined the second-half-year plan across four key areas: strengthening medical safety risk prevention and control as well as medical record quality management; actively advancing scientific research innovation and the translation of research findings into clinical applications; continuously enhancing clinical diagnostic and treatment standards and patient satisfaction; and steadily promoting reforms in health insurance payment models.

Zhang Jianping, Deputy Director of the Nursing Department (who oversees all nursing operations across the hospital), has proposed several measures to enhance the quality and efficiency of nursing care: strengthening safety awareness among all staff, intensifying emergency response drills, and actively promoting the implementation of new nursing technologies.

Deputy Director of the Nursing Department, Fu Weihong, emphasized that, through information‑based management tools and by deepening root‑cause analyses of nursing adverse events, work processes will be optimized to build a comprehensive, end-to-end quality management system encompassing “prevention–monitoring–response–improvement.”

In her address, Wang Xia, Director of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center, stated that in the second half of the year, priority will be given to standardizing and智能化 (intelligentizing) treatment protocols, while simultaneously recruiting specialized technical talent to ensure the safe and stable operation of equipment. She particularly emphasized strengthening interdepartmental collaboration, accelerating the implementation of new hyperbaric oxygen therapy technologies and initiatives, and continuously elevating the quality of medical services.

In his report, Gao Hongliang, Director of the Rehabilitation Therapy Center, reiterated that the core objective of rehabilitation therapy is to facilitate patients’ functional recovery, and emphasized the need to further refine management practices to strengthen safety safeguards. He also highlighted the importance of fully implementing the requirements of healthcare insurance reform, organizing all therapists to thoroughly study relevant policies, and establishing a regular self-inspection and self-correction mechanism to ensure compliant operations.

Finally, Executive Vice President Gao Zhiqiang delivered a concluding address. He emphasized that each year’s work is by no means a mere repetition of the previous year; rather, it represents continuous innovation and breakthroughs. In the first half of the year, the hospital achieved historic milestones in both inpatient volume and staff size, successfully hosted national, provincial, and municipal continuing‑education programs, and was honored as the leading institution of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Committee of the China Association of Private Medical Institutions—each of these accomplishments carrying groundbreaking significance. Looking ahead, we must not only remain resolute but also move forward with unwavering confidence. President Gao pointed out that Nanjing Zijin Hospital must not only set ambitious goals and maintain a forward‑looking vision, but also stay grounded and pursue meticulous, high‑quality development, coordinating efforts across key areas such as clinical care, scientific research, and education and training, so as to achieve new leaps and usher in a fresh chapter.
