During this “week” of International Nurses Day on May 12, the “angels” at our hospital have been both busy and joyful! From book‑sharing sessions and science‑education lectures to charity sales, one event has followed another—each more engaging than the last. Through these activities, the nurses have showcased their many talents and facets.

Part 1: Book Report Session

“The essence of nursing is companionship and witnessing.”

“Listen to the voice within, engage in dialogue with your inner self, and discover your clear, authentic self.”

“You must become gentle, like a breeze that can weave around mountains and walls.”

On Nurses’ Day, May 12, on the podium of the auditorium, the angels delivered heartfelt book‑sharing presentations that moved everyone in the audience.

After a fiercely contested competition, Zhao Yatong from Ward 202 ultimately took first place. From the perspective of nursing and with heartfelt humanistic insight, she shared her reflections on reading “One Hundred Years of Solitude.” Zhou Hui from Ward 203, with “Waiting for Everything to Settle Down,” and Wo Xixi from Jiangning HDU, with “Living with Clarity,” were awarded second prize. Ding Xujia from Jiangning ICU, with “The Ordinary World,” Fan Mengru from Ward 102, with “Facing the Bloom of a Single Flower,” and Yang Huifang from Ward 102, with “All Accounts Settled,” received third prize. Meanwhile, Wen Chengcheng from Ward 204, with “I and the Temple of Earth,” Fan Ke from Ward 104, with “Gaze,” Zhou Xinyi from Ward 204, with “There’s a Small Shop by the Clouds,” and Chen Ya from Jiangning HDU, with “The Courage to Be Disliked,” were honored with excellence awards.

As Dean Ge Jiangping noted in his remarks, “These reflections from their days of study are also the insights they have gained through their work, and they vividly demonstrate their deep passion for this profession.”

Loving to read and reading good books—this is one of the qualities of us nurses.

Part 2: Safety Education and Awareness

How much do you know about tube care? And I know all about electrical safety! The Angel Nurses’ public education classes, “Bedside Care Mastery: The Ultimate Guide to Managing Medical Tubes” and “The Electrical Safety Handbook,” kicked off on May 15 at the Jiangning Campus of Nanjing Zijin Hospital!

During the session, the nurses provided detailed instruction on “turning bedridden patients, safely positioning various medical tubes during daily care, and the safe use of electrical devices.” The nursing assistants and family members in attendance actively took to the stage to share their insights and participate in hands-on demonstrations. Through a combination of theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations, participants reinforced key safety principles related to tube securing, turning techniques, and the proper operation of electrical equipment. May every learner integrate safety into their daily routines and make it an integral part of every moment.

With a sense of responsibility and heartfelt compassion, this is another side of us nurses.
 

Part 3: Charity Sale  

Handmade twisted‑flower crafts, badminton rackets, power banks, and handcrafted scarves—on May 16, a lively little market sprang up at the rehabilitation activity platform of Nanjing Zijin Hospital’s Qinhuai Campus and in the outpatient lobby of its Jiangning Campus. It turned out that the hospital’s dedicated staff members had banded together to set up stalls for a charitable sale! The booths featured not only handmade creations but also a wide array of everyday items. With an impressive variety of goods and exceptionally affordable prices, the event drew eager shoppers from among hospital employees, patients, and their families.

After a lively three-hour charity sale, every item found a new owner. Across both hospital campuses, the event raised more than 3,000 yuan in donations, which will be directly deposited into our hospital’s charitable fund to bring warmth to patients in need.

Kind-hearted and resourceful—this is another side of who we nurses are.

When Florence Nightingale’s lamp meets the starlight of a new era, this most admirable group of people is writing their own story with professionalism and warmth. This Nurses’ Day, we’ve seen radiant smiles behind masks, felt the sincere heartbeat beneath white coats, and come to know the many facets of these remarkable women. Yet no matter which side we see—whether their serious demeanor or their endearing charm—they all shine brightly.
