On January 24, 2017, the China Brain Resuscitation Treatment Center at Nanjing Zijin Hospital convened a multidisciplinary consultation involving several renowned experts from across the province, conducting ward rounds and engaging in in-depth academic discussions for two patients in a vegetative state. 　　Brief Summary of Consultation Case:

　　Patient 1:

　　Mr. Xu, a 46-year-old male, developed dizziness accompanied by nausea and vomiting, unsteady gait, and occasional headache on the morning of December 20, 2016, without any apparent precipitating factors. The next day, his dizziness worsened. A cranial CT scan revealed a large infarct in the right cerebellar hemisphere, ischemic changes in the white matter, and age‑related cerebral alterations. The patient had no prior history of cardiac disease; however, during the course of treatment, he experienced two episodes of sudden cardiac and respiratory arrest. Following cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), he remained in a comatose state. After multiple surgical interventions, he was transferred to the China Brain Resuscitation Center at Nanjing Zijin Hospital on January 17, 2017. At present, he remains in a vegetative state with poor responsiveness.

　　Patient 2:

　　Ms. Fu, a 29-year-old female, experienced sudden dizziness on September 18, 2016, accompanied by aphasia. She was transported to a local hospital, where her systolic blood pressure was recorded at 200 mmHg, and a cranial CT scan revealed intraventricular hemorrhage. The patient subsequently underwent bilateral external ventricular drainage and lumbar cistern external drainage at other institutions. Despite these interventions, she remained in a comatose state, with the ability to open her eyes spontaneously. For further treatment, she was transferred to the China Brain Resuscitation Center, Nanjing Zijin Hospital. Currently, she has demonstrated minimal consciousness and can follow simple commands.
