On the afternoon of August 28, the Urban Neurocritical Care Salon was held as scheduled in the Academic Lecture Hall of Nanjing Zijin Hospital. Several experts were invited to share the latest advances in enteral nutrition research and to discuss clinical practice guidelines and safety considerations in its application. President Ge Jiangping attended the event and delivered a welcoming address, while Vice President Gao Zhiqiang served as the moderator.
 

Professor Zhou Mengliang of the Eastern Theater Command General Hospital delivered a lecture on “Enteral Nutrition and Protein.” Professor Zhou emphasized that, during the acute phase of brain injury, the primary purpose of administering albumin is to increase blood colloid osmotic pressure, reduce cerebral edema, and protect neurons; its nutritional effects are secondary and delayed. At this stage, patients’ nutritional needs should be met primarily through enteral nutrition.
 

Teacher Meng Lijun from Nanjing Gulou Hospital delivered a focused presentation on “Blind Intubation and Care of Spiral Tubes.” She emphasized that, during the acute phase of brain injury, patients often experience stress‑induced gastric mucosal damage and gastroesophageal reflux. In such cases, using a jejunal feeding tube to deliver nutritional solutions directly into the patient’s jejunum can help prevent gastroesophageal reflux and ensure adequate nutritional support. Teacher Meng provided a detailed explanation of the key techniques for blind jejunal tube insertion and demonstrated the procedure on site.
