As of January 3,

163 people successfully donated blood,

Total blood donations amounted to 55,670 ml.

Among them, 91 people consumed 300 ml.

400 ml reached 69 people.

These are the heartwarming figures recorded by Nanjing Zijin Hospital during its first two working days of 2025, marking a promising start to the cause of voluntary blood donation.

In recent years, Nanjing Zijin Hospital has proactively taken the lead among medical institutions in Nanjing in organizing annual blood‑donation drives. On weekdays following New Year’s Day, healthcare workers observe a day of voluntary blood donation. 2025 is, of course, no exception.

This blood donation drive was held at the Jiangning and Qinhuai campuses.

Even before the scheduled time, people had already gathered early at the usual spot. As the hours passed, the line grew longer and longer, with everyone following the established procedure and joining the blood‑donation queue in an orderly manner.

After completing the forms, undergoing a physical exam and blood tests, and donating blood, everyone handed in their own warm “gesture of goodwill.”

In the line to donate blood,

There are nervous newcomers experiencing blood donation for the first time, as well as seasoned veterans who have donated many times with calm composure.

There are those who feel at a loss when their blood pressure rises due to nervousness, and others who proudly savor the satisfaction of completing their donation with ease. There’s the disappointment of being ineligible because of elevated transaminase levels, and the exhilaration of setting a new personal record for single‑donation volume.

It is worth noting that those who came to the blood donation station at Nanjing Zijin Hospital were not only medical staff, but also family members of medical personnel, patients’ relatives, nursing assistants, and cafeteria workers. Upon hearing about the blood drive, they all eagerly signed up and actively joined this public‑service initiative to donate blood voluntarily.

The selfless passion for blood donation and the spirit of dedication make the number “55670” all the more heartwarming; every drop of life‑saving blood, gathered bit by bit, becomes a beacon of hope and a gift of health for those in need.

In an interview with Nanjing Television, Ge Jiangping, president of Nanjing Zijin Hospital, stated that, as a tertiary‑level rehabilitation hospital, the institution has a strong sense of social responsibility. Moreover, as a medical facility itself, it fully understands the vital importance of blood to human life. Over the years, the hospital has actively encouraged its staff to join the ranks of voluntary blood donors, and employees have responded with remarkable enthusiasm and commitment, rolling up their sleeves without hesitation each time. As a result, in recent years, the hospital has been repeatedly recognized at the municipal level as an outstanding collective unit for voluntary blood donation. This honor embodies responsibility, dedication, and profound compassion.
