“Encountering” Traditional Chinese Medicine, Bringing Warmth to Every Home
On December 28, amid the biting winter winds, a ray of warmth from traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation shone upon the Xiangfang Village community square outside the Qinhuai Branch of Nanjing Zijin Hospital.
On December 28, amid the biting winter chill, a ray of warmth from traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation shone upon the Xiangfang Village Community Square outside the Qinhuai Branch of Nanjing Zijin Hospital. Free medical services—including blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, TCM consultations, and rehabilitation exercises—were in full swing, while vouchers for TCM moxibustion and cupping, along with specially crafted TCM sachets as small gifts, awaited their fortunate recipients.
At 8 a.m., the medical and health‑care volunteer team from Nanjing Zijin Hospital got to work. After setting up the various functional areas for consultations, patient care, traditional Chinese medicine experiences, and public education, they began providing free medical services to the residents who had been waiting.
“Hey, Aunt Wang, with your blood pressure over 160, you should make lifestyle changes and get plenty of rest…”
“Mr. Zhu!! Please don’t go—your blood pressure is over 190. Don’t you usually take antihypertensive medication? Do sit down; let me explain that the normal range for us is…”
“Grandma, your blood sugar is already over 15 mmol/L. I recommend you go to the hospital for another check-up…”
At the Traditional Chinese Medicine consultation and experience zone, physicians provided attentive, face-to-face consultations using the four diagnostic methods—inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry, and palpation—answering patients’ concerns about blood pressure, blood sugar, neck‑shoulder‑lower back‑leg pain, insomnia, and post‑hospital rehabilitation. They also handed out complimentary TCM trial vouchers, bringing care and health right to people’s doorsteps.
At the scene, rehabilitation therapists tailored personalized exercise plans for members of the public seeking advice on rehabilitation training and presented them with exclusive, handcrafted herbal sachets from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Rehabilitation Department. The sachets feature a flu‑prevention formula, helping to safeguard people’s health throughout the winter.
