On November 9, the Lifestyle and Health Summit Forum and the inaugural meeting of the Health Lifestyle Promotion Association of the Chinese Society of Ethnic Medicine were solemnly held in Nanjing. Nanjing Zijin Hospital was invited to attend and presented its distinctive therapeutic programs at the event.

Our hospital’s experience and practices in the field of cerebral resuscitation have garnered significant interest from Professor Song Guoli, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Medical Engineering. On the afternoon of November 10, accompanied by Professor Xia Dengjie of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Professor Song paid a special visit to Nanjing Zijin Hospital to conduct an on-site inspection and provide guidance.

Academician Song Guoli visited the hospital’s various departments and wards, listened to a briefing on Nanjing Zijin Hospital, and asked in detail about numerous specifics, including an overview of our hospital’s Advanced Neurofunctional Assessment and Modulation Therapy Unit.
 

During a symposium with the hospital’s leadership team and key clinical department leaders, Academician Song fully commended Nanjing Zijin Hospital’s achievements and its approaches in areas such as brain resuscitation. He also provided a brief overview of the current state of rehabilitation medicine in the United States, along with cutting-edge developments in medicine and biology, and offered recommendations for launching new rehabilitation programs at our hospital.

 
After carefully listening, the heads of all departments at our hospital also sought advice from Academician Song, expressing their intention to closely monitor developments in relevant fields and actively work to create the conditions necessary for introducing new projects, thereby bringing fresh hope to patients’ recovery.

 

Character Profile

    Professor Song Guoli, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering, is affiliated with the University of California, San Diego, where he serves as a professor in both the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Bioengineering. Professor Song studied under Nobel laureates Eric Kandel and Richard Axel, who were awarded the 2000 and 2004 Nobel Prizes in Physiology or Medicine, respectively, and also mentored by Academician Qian Xu of the U.S. National Academies. He has achieved outstanding scholarly accomplishments, making significant contributions to fundamental research at the cellular and genetic levels, while also attaining internationally recognized advances in technology and engineering. For many years, he has been deeply engaged in multidisciplinary research spanning biomedicine and biomechanics, conducting pioneering work on tissue repair and osteocyte biocompatibility, which has earned him widespread international acclaim.
