“I no longer need these items, and they can still be used by other patients.” Recently, upon his recovery and discharge, patient Mr. Zhu donated several rehabilitation devices, hoping to help other patients.

Mr. Zhu was transferred to Nanjing Zijin Hospital in late August 2019. At that time, following surgery for a cerebral aneurysm rupture, he was completely unable to move his left limbs and was wheeled into the ward on a stretcher. He spent most of his time drowsy, with confused speech and markedly slowed responses.

Following comprehensive rehabilitation therapy and training, Mr. Zhu’s left-sided motor function has gradually improved; he is alert and his speech has returned to normal, enabling him to largely manage daily living activities independently. At discharge, he was already able to walk unassisted.
 

For this very reason, some of the rehabilitation aids Mr. Zhu had once used—such as crutches, a shoulder support, a commode, and a wheelchair—had gradually become unnecessary for him. He decided to leave these items at Nanjing Zijin Hospital, saying, “I’ll just leave them for those who need them!”

The head of the Rehabilitation Center at Nanjing Zijin Hospital said, “We are deeply grateful for Mr. Zhu’s kindness, which has imbued these items with immense emotional value. When other patients use these devices and learn that Mr. Zhu once relied on them to regain his health, it provides powerful moral encouragement. We are delighted to pass on this spirit of compassion.”
