A patient with severe traumatic brain injury, upon recovery and discharge, donated rehabilitation equipment.
Recently, patient Xiao Cao, who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in a car accident, regained the ability to move independently and was discharged after undergoing a series of treatments and rehabilitation at our hospital. The patient’s family specially presented a banner to express their gratitude and trust in Nanjing Zijin Hospital.

In August 2019, patient Xiao Cao was involved in a severe traffic accident. Despite undergoing surgery for his traumatic injuries, he remained unconscious and was transferred to our hospital 20 days later. Upon admission, he presented with multiple fractures throughout the body, cerebral contusion and laceration, hepatic contusion, complete intestinal obstruction, and a CNPVSS score of 4. Following external fixation and internal fixation of a tibial shaft fracture, his fractures began to heal. With rehabilitation training and compassionate counseling from the medical team, Xiao Cao progressed from walking with assistive devices to gradually transitioning to independent ambulation.

Upon discharge, Xiao Cao and his mother unanimously decided to leave the orthotic shoe for patients who would need it later. As a token of hope, the shoe carries forward his resilience and inspires subsequent patients to persevere without giving up.
