Ward Story | There’s a “Tough-as-Nails Uncle” in the Rehabilitation Hall

Just after the National Day holiday, Ni Linhao, right there in the rehabilitation hall of Nanjing Zijin Hospital, boldly declared before everyone: “In another month, I’m determined to walk out of the hospital on my own!”

In June, I accidentally fell from a great height, This resulted in a burst fracture for Uncle Ni. The attending physician told the family: “After regaining consciousness, there is a 99% chance of paralysis,” “In the end, it’s very likely that both money and people will be lost.” After his wife and daughter burst into tears, Did not bow to fate, After being transferred to Nanjing Zijin Hospital in July, We waited together with him for a miracle to happen.

In the rehabilitation hall, You can often see Uncle Ni training diligently. Therapist Wang Chao speaks highly of his progress: “He began bedside rehabilitation in September, was able to complete 12 sets of balance exercises on the parallel bars by October, and by November he could walk independently for more than a hundred steps.” Recently, I’ve encountered patients who are not very cooperative, We brought it over to Uncle Ni and said, “Just look at how ‘others’ train!” After all, no comparison, no pain!

However, Uncle Ni, the “model exemplary figure” himself, Yet he takes it all in stride: “I’m deeply grateful for the therapist’s thoughtful care, and I’m fortunate that everyone sees me as a role model. Every step of grit and perseverance I’ve endured is simply to spare others from bearing the burden because of me. As the head of the family, I just want to return to my loved ones sooner and fulfill my duties as a father and a husband.”

On the morning of November 13, Ni Linhao was discharged and returned home, fulfilling his bold promise as scheduled. Before leaving, the “tough‑as‑nails” man donated his rehabilitation equipment, hoping it would help other patients.
