As the year draws to a close, the Nursing Department of Nanjing Zijin Hospital conducted coordinated CPR emergency drills at both hospital campuses. Healthcare professionals from all departments participated in or observed these exercises, embracing a humble and learning‑oriented attitude as they look forward to the new year 2021.

Nanjing Zijin Hospital admits a large number of critically ill patients. As a life-saving technique for managing cardiac arrest, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an essential skill that all medical staff must master. The purpose of this drill is to help healthcare professionals further reinforce the procedural steps, enabling them to respond calmly and effectively when faced with an emergency, thereby laying a solid foundation for future resuscitation efforts.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as the optimal first‑line intervention for saving patients, requires meticulous attention to every step. The drill was conducted by one physician and five nurses. In addition, a special “patient” was designated—whose life hung in the balance and urgently required emergency care. Throughout the exercise, all participants remained organized and coordinated, with medical staff working seamlessly together to overcome challenges.

The drill concluded successfully, with all medical staff washing their hands, removing their masks, and bowing in gratitude to everyone. The exercise tested the healthcare team’s ability to respond to emergencies, strengthened collaboration and coordination among staff, and provided valuable learning opportunities for junior nurses, while allowing more experienced nurses to identify areas for improvement and build on their strengths. To ensure the safety of every patient, all employees at Zijin Hospital remain committed to meeting challenges head-on, maintaining unwavering vigilance 365 days a year.
