Grandpa Zhou, who had been hospitalized for a traumatic brain injury, surprisingly made his way from his room to the rehabilitation hall that day, assisted by his wife. Everyone was taken aback. After nearly two months of service, the wheelchair was finally ready to be retired.
 

Grandpa Zhou is 60 years old this year and suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident. He was transferred to Nanjing Zijin Hospital in December 2020, and his wife, Grandma Zhu, has been by his side the entire time, providing round-the-clock care. Starting in early January, he began using a wheelchair. Despite her petite stature, pushing the wheelchair is no easy task for her. Determined not to trouble others, Grandma Zhu first sought guidance from the nursing staff on proper techniques and frequently practiced with the empty chair. After about two weeks of learning, she had mastered the essentials of wheelchair maneuvering. Even pushing the cart uphill is no problem.
 

Of course, Grandma Zhu’s dedication went far beyond pushing the wheelchair; during her more than 100-day hospital stay, she devoted herself entirely to caring for her husband. As Grandpa Zhou’s condition improved day by day, it became the greatest gift for Grandma Zhu. Yet she knew full well that her husband had been wholeheartedly committed to his rehabilitation exercises, striving every day to be discharged as soon as possible. He also harbors a heart‑warming dream of reuniting with his family: to find the younger sister he lost half a century ago.
 

Because of perseverance, even the most arduous journey can be overcome; because of love, we have the strength to banish loneliness in countless ways. We look forward to the day when Grandpa Zhou is reunited with his loved ones.
