A video‑based progress meeting was held for the transcranial magnetic stimulation research project in which our institute is participating.


On the afternoon of May 18, Professor Lu Xiao of the Department of Critical Care Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital led his team in a video conference with Nanjing Zijin Hospital to discuss the progress of their jointly conducted randomized controlled trial titled “The Impact of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on the Level of Consciousness in Comatose Patients” and to plan the specific tasks for the next phase.
 


 

During this meeting, the project team members reviewed and analyzed the preliminary progress of the research collaboration and identified several issues that require attention at this stage.
 

 
Gao Zhiqiang, Executive Vice President of Nanjing Zijin Hospital, raised concerns regarding the issues identified in the project’s preliminary experiments and expressed his hope that the three parties would work together in a spirit of unity and strengthen their collaboration.
 

 
Professor Lu Xiao of the Department of Critical Care Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital expressed his hope to accelerate the progress of this research project, convene discussions on pertinent challenges, and lay a solid foundation for achieving early and substantial results.
 
Transcranial magnetic stimulation for promoting arousal in patients with disorders of consciousness has been one of the most cutting-edge research topics internationally in recent years. Since June 2020, the Department of Critical Care Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of the Provincial People’s Hospital, in collaboration with Nanjing Zijin Hospital, has jointly launched this project, aiming to develop novel approaches to facilitate the recovery of consciousness through transcranial magnetic stimulation, supported by a large case cohort and a rigorously designed research protocol.
