Red banners, delicious cakes, and steaming dumplings—every bit of joy and happiness was palpable at Nanjing Zijin Hospital. This was a group birthday celebration hosted by the Nursing Department of Nanjing Zijin Hospital, themed “Steaming Dumplings, Warm Hearts,” for nurses whose birthdays fell in October.

Just before 8 a.m., Director Fan Yinghua of the Nursing Department, accompanied by head nurses and staff nurses, began preparations. Chopping vegetables, juicing, kneading dough… the scene was orderly, with clear divisions of labor, and everyone was thoroughly engaged.

Just before the birthday party was set to begin, Dean Ge Jiangping arrived on site, injecting a burst of energy into the atmosphere. Laughter filled the air, and a joyful vibe seemed to permeate even the smallest particles of space.

At noon, as steaming dumplings were lifted from the pot, the birthday celebration officially began. Everyone joined in singing “Happy Birthday,” offering warm wishes to the birthday honorees, whose faces lit up with radiant smiles.

The birthday celebration drew to a close amid laughter and cheer, as everyone savored dumplings, enjoyed cake, and captured cherished moments. At the same time, they made sure to share this joy with their colleagues, sending cakes and dumplings to those who had stayed steadfast at their posts and couldn’t be there in person.

Due to the pandemic, work commitments, and other factors, many nurses have gone long periods without returning home, significantly reducing their time with family. To help them feel the warmth of home even while on the job, after days of preparation, we specially organized this themed event, “Warm Dumplings, Warm Hearts.”
