Yangzi Evening News reports (by reporter Yang Yan) that, according to the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission, Nanjing Zijin Hospital and Kunshan Rehabilitation Hospital have passed on-site inspections and have officially been accredited as Level-III rehabilitation hospitals. Nanjing Zijin Hospital has thus become the first Level-III rehabilitation hospital in Nanjing.

　　In recent years, China has actively supported social entities in expanding into specialized medical care and other niche service sectors, thereby increasing the effective supply of services and fostering specialized competitive advantages. Efforts have been made to accelerate the development of a number of competitive, branded service providers in areas such as rehabilitation, nursing, and health check-ups. Localities are encouraged to incorporate the expansion of rehabilitation healthcare resources into their “14th Five-Year Plan” for building a health‑care service system, with priority given to supporting the establishment of municipal‑level rehabilitation hospitals and rehabilitation medicine departments in county‑level general hospitals. In accordance with the requirements of the “Jiangsu Province Plan for the Establishment of Tertiary Medical Institutions (2017–2020),” and under the principle of “no prohibition unless explicitly listed,” private capital is encouraged to establish tertiary hospitals with distinctive specialty profiles, with priority accorded to the development of tertiary specialized hospitals in fields such as psychiatry, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and rehabilitation. The development of tertiary rehabilitation hospitals is also encouraged, with no planning restrictions on their number.

　　According to available information, Nanjing Zijin Hospital originated from the Cerebrovascular Disease Rehabilitation Center, which was established through the merger of the Aviation and Diving Research Section and the Hyperbaric Oxygen Laboratory of the Naval Medical College. With a history spanning 35 years, the hospital has long been dedicated to intensive rehabilitation therapy and related research, amassing extensive clinical expertise—particularly in cerebral resuscitation, spinal cord injury, and a wide range of conditions caused by ischemia and hypoxia.
