Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission issued a document officially designating Nanjing Zijin Hospital and one other hospital as tertiary rehabilitation hospitals, bringing them under the management framework of tertiary hospitals. As a result, Nanjing Zijin Hospital has become the first tertiary rehabilitation hospital in Nanjing.
Nanjing Zijin Hospital originated from the Cerebrovascular Disease Rehabilitation Center, which was established through the merger of the Aviation and Diving Research Section and the Hyperbaric Oxygen Laboratory of the Naval Medical College. With a history spanning 35 years, the hospital has long been dedicated to intensive rehabilitation therapy and related research, amassing extensive clinical expertise—particularly in cerebral resuscitation, spinal cord injury, and the treatment of various conditions caused by ischemia and hypoxia.
In 2019, Nanjing Zijin Hospital set the establishment of a Grade III rehabilitation hospital as its development goal. Over the past three years, the hospital has steadily advanced all related initiatives in pursuit of this objective, focusing on key areas such as quality, safety, service, and management. By innovating its management mechanisms and rigorously implementing medical quality control, the hospital has further strengthened its internal capacity-building efforts, resulting in sustained improvements in patient and public satisfaction.
Ge Jiangping, President of Nanjing Zijin Hospital, stated: “This promotion to a Grade III hospital marks a new starting point. The hospital will leverage the ongoing ‘Year of Private Hospital Management’ initiative to further strengthen its internal development, with a particular focus on enhancing medical quality and patient safety. At the same time, we will accelerate both hardware and software improvements, comprehensively elevate our management standards, and deliver higher‑quality healthcare services to the public.”
