In 2021, the Nanjing Municipal Health Commission, in collaboration with Yangtze Evening News, launched a special call for submissions titled “2021 Red Hearts Toward the Party: Nursing Chronicles.” Following rigorous evaluation by a professional panel comprising representatives from the Nanjing Municipal Health Commission, the Nanjing Nursing Association, and the media, the event recognized ten outstanding innovative cases. Among them was “A Veteran Party Member, the Patient’s Skin Repair Specialist,” authored by Fan Yinghua of the Nursing Department at Nanjing Zijin Hospital.

The hospital’s Nursing Department has taken on the responsibility of both preventing and treating pressure ulcers, integrating the principles of holistic nursing throughout all aspects of care. Led by Director Fan Yinghua, the nursing team established a dedicated task force that, prior to treatment, thoroughly reviews medical histories, conducts meticulous assessments, and develops individualized dressing‑change plans. They also provide education to family members and offer detailed guidance on dietary management. Over time, Nanjing Zijin Hospital has achieved notable results in managing pressure ulcers, earning a strong reputation among patients’ families. Patients with pressure ulcers from other hospitals seek treatment here, and the hospital has gained recognition from specialists at external institutions, which have even designated it as a recommended center for the treatment of pressure ulcers.
