On May 11, a team of nurses from Nanjing Zijin Hospital visited Shitouzhai Village in Baima Town, Lishui. Committed to the rural community, they leveraged their expertise in rehabilitation nursing to safeguard villagers’ health and contribute to rural revitalization.

At the event, Fan Yinghua, Director of the Nursing Department at Nanjing Zijin Hospital, shared valuable health‑and‑wellness tips—covering topics such as blood‑sugar management and shoulder‑impingement prevention—with a clear, engaging, and humorous style that proved highly informative. The nurses also provided a detailed demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the Heimlich maneuver, teaching attendees how to respond effectively when someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest or airway obstruction caused by a foreign object.

With the nurse’s patient explanations and guidance, a villager stepped up to practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He said that until now he had only seen it on television or in videos, never performing it in real life. Through this hands-on session, he realized that what seemed like simple steps is actually quite demanding—every movement must be executed precisely. After just a few compressions, even as a young, physically strong man, he already felt exhausted. Saving a life, he concluded, is no easy task. By the end of the training, he had essentially mastered the key techniques. “Learning a life-saving skill makes this lecture well worth attending,” he added.

At the conclusion of the event, the nursing team from Nanjing Zijin Hospital also donated first-aid kits and essential medical supplies to Shitouzhai Village. Through such hands-on initiatives, they celebrated their professional holiday, making this year’s Nurses’ Day in 2022 all the more meaningful.
