Ceremony Marking the Launch of Training to Enhance Medical and Nursing Services at Nanjing Zijin Hospital

As an ancient saying goes, “Ritual propriety is the very essence of all things.” In other words, ritual serves as the guiding principle for all aspects of life. In the healthcare sector, as modern patients’ expectations for medical services continue to rise, the deeper meaning of service has come to be increasingly valued. For healthcare professionals, a graceful and healthy demeanor, a warm and approachable smile, and kind, considerate words not only reflect personal excellence but also offer patients comfort, encouragement, and other positive benefits. To this end, Nanjing Zijin Hospital has launched hospital-wide training programs to enhance patient care, striving to build a high-quality service system by improving attitudes, standardizing conduct, diversifying service delivery, and streamlining workflows—thereby elevating the patient experience and satisfaction while strengthening the hospital’s overall reputation.

Dean Ge Jiangping delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Ge Jiangping, President of Nanjing Zijin Hospital, addressed the trainees with these words: “We must always bear in mind that the conduct and demeanor of healthcare professionals have a direct impact on patients’ emotions and their overall experience. Let us work together to enhance both our personal image and inner cultivation, ensuring that patients feel the warmth and richness of our services, and making adherence to etiquette and professional standards a shining hallmark of Nanjing Zijin Hospital.”

Chen Ting, Etiquette Training Instructor

This training session has invited three distinguished, specially-appointed etiquette instructors. They excel at dissecting real-world healthcare scenarios to identify challenges and deliver comprehensive, practical solutions. The classroom atmosphere is lively and engaging, with instruction that is both thorough and accessible, emphasizing hands-on practice so that medical, nursing, and technical trainees can “learn effectively and apply what they’ve learned.”

The hospital leadership presented appointment letters to the homeroom teachers and teaching assistants.

To better engage all hospital staff in training, enhance healthcare professionals’ adherence to etiquette standards, and ensure that the training content reaches every employee, the hospital and the etiquette‑training instructors have selected 15 outstanding medical, nursing, and technical personnel to serve as classroom coordinators and teaching assistants, supporting the instructors in course instruction and assessment.

Nurse Appearance and Professionalism Training

The etiquette training program spans four weeks, during which three instructors will deliver in-depth instruction on essential topics such as the fundamentals of patient‑centered care, professional appearance and grooming, basic posture and demeanor, doctor–patient communication skills, and job‑specific service assessment, with the aim of further enhancing the quality and effectiveness of hospital services.

Instructors and trainees engage in grooming and professional appearance development.

During the first hands-on session on professional appearance and grooming, instructor Hu Yijia provided the nurses with guidance on establishing a standardized image. Due to the nature of their profession, nurses are subject to specific requirements regarding appearance and demeanor. By combining a polished professional image with specialized skills and a well‑structured service ethos, they earn patients’ trust and gain societal recognition.

At the etiquette training session, medical and technical trainees were brimming with enthusiasm.

We hope that, through this training on enhancing medical and nursing services, our hospital will further improve the quality of care provided by its medical, nursing, and technical staff, elevate patients’ overall healthcare experience, and build an outstanding service system characterized by “more meticulous medical care, more effective rehabilitation and treatment, greater patient comfort, and more harmonious doctor–patient relationships.”
